The Reverend Michael J. Polak Endowed Fund
When Father Michael J. Polak retired to St. John Vianney Manor Home after his final assignment (Pastor of St. Agnes Parish in West Mifflin from 1985 to 2002), he decided to begin building an endowed fund that would provide annual gifts for some of his favorite charities. The Braddock native, who was ordained in 1958 and served as an elected member of the Priest's Benefit Board in the Diocese, decided that taking out a $100,000 charitable gift annuity with the Diocese would be a viable way to proceed.
A Tale of Three Sisters—Four Charitable Gift Annuities and a Bequest
In 1999 and in 2005, Alice F. Angst established two $10,000 charitable gift annuities, one to benefit St. Basil Parish and the other for St. Thomas More Parish. Alice's sister Jean Angst, in 1999 and 2008, invested a total of $55,000 in two gift annuities to benefit the Bishop's Education Fund (BEF), the largest scholarship fund in the Diocese of Pittsburgh Foundation.

It started over 100 years ago (AD1911) with the shipboard encounter of Stefan Wichmanowski and Helena Blaszkiewicz, immigrants from Poland.
Dr. Harry and Monica Null
Dr. Harry and Monica Null are pleased to support the Diocese of Pittsburgh on an ongoing basis. They have lived in Pittsburgh nearly all of their lives, are grateful for what they have, and strongly believe in giving back to their community.
Martin Salley
Martin Salley believed that giving was just part of being a Catholic. He lived his faith while working at Westinghouse for 47 years before retiring in 1990 at age 68. In 1992, he began participating in the Diocese's Charitable Gift Annuity program. From 1992-2014, he placed $210,000 in 25 gift annuities. During those years, Martin received earnings on the annuities totaling $212,000, most of it tax free.
